Complete Huawei infrastructure for the cloud computing services launch

Challenges:

  • cutting-edge IT infrastructure design and construction;
  • construction of a new data center;
  • ensuring high availability and reserve computing power for applications and services in the IT environment;
  • a platform for making proprietary services available to clients in a SaaS model.

Benefits:

  • sufficient computing power and disk resources;
  • technical support and equipment and services warranty;
  • ample room for expansion for future business projects;
  • transfer of data backup support to the second server room.

Solution components:

  • 5 Huawei FusionServer RH2288 V3 servers;
  • Huawei OceanStore 2600 V3 storage systems;
  • WAN solutions and a firewall device to secure the local network.

The entire infrastructure of the new StabilisOne data center, including servers, storage systems, and LAN and WAN solutions, was based on Huawei solutions. The launch of the new data center will allow StabilisOne to make their own cloud computing service available to their clients.

The project StabilisOne implements is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Regional Operational Program of the Lubelskie Voivodeship for 2014 to 2020, Priority Axis 3: Enhancing the Competitiveness of Enterprises. Its main goal is the practical application of the research and development results in StabilisOne business operations. The project covers the implementation of the developed production optimization algorithms, as well as making the StabilisOne system available in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud computing model. The target group for the new offering will be companies with at least 30 employees and extensive purchasing and sales or production processes.

Building the SaaS-optimized infrastructure

In order to be able to make StabilisOne system available in the Software-as-a-Service model, StabilisOne had to purchase the IT infrastructure necessary to provide this type of service. The supplier was selected in a tender procedure. “At the time the tender was announced, we had already established a framework schedule for the project. The supplier knew the deadlines for delivery, installation, and commissioning of the equipment,” says Leszek Bober, StabilisOne CTO.

“We chose Infonet Projekt offer because it was both the most comprehensive and affordable. It was within the budget set. We also wanted technical support and warranties for both equipment and services. We implement the latest technologies, so without the support of the manufacturer and the supplier we might not be able to cope with this project. It is worth emphasizing that Infonet Projekt supports us in building a cloud computing platform,” he adds.

To launch StabilisOne cloud computing platform, Infonet Project delivered in total 5 Huawei FusionServer RH2288 V3 servers that use the resources of the Huawei OceanStore 2600 V3 storage system. The storage systems are equipped with 6 disk shelves and 112 disks. “The infrastructure we provided ensures power and space for both production environment and data backup,” explains Kornel Kundzicz, IT Systems Architect at Infonet Projekt SA. The works related to the delivery of Huawei equipment also involved Veracomp experts.

“For such projects, the key is to ensure high availability and an ample reserve of computing power for applications and services in the clients’ IT environment. Thanks to their versatility, the RH 2288V3 servers we used will support production and test environments, and thanks to their expansion capabilities they will also prove useful for future business projects,” emphasizes Michal Wielgus, Huawei Servers & Storage Product Manager at Veracomp’s Servers and Storage Division. The implementation also included the network layer, which will be necessary at a later stage of the project. “Ultimately, we plan to transfer of data backup support to the second server room. Hence, it was also necessary to provide WAN construction solutions,” adds Pawel Witkowski, IT Systems Architect at Infonet Projekt SA .

Designing a complex hardware and network infrastructure based on Huawei solutions, Infonet Projekt experts could count on Veracomp engineers’ support. “Our team’s task is to provide support for our business partners at every stage of the project. Our engineers often work together with the integrator solution architects, from the idea, through the concept, to the completion of the implementation. In the case of Huawei solutions, a wide portfolio allows us to look at projects holistically and combine network and server solutions. That was also the case with the StabilisOne project,” assures Michal Wielgus .

ERP and production support tools in the cloud

Thanks to the platform created together with Infonet Projekt, StabilisOne will provide their clients with services that allow, among other things, to launch ERP systems and maintenance support solutions in the cloud. “In the same way, we want to offer solutions for process and production lines monitoring. They allow the maintenance officer’s computer screen to display information about possible deviations related to production machines operation, such as a machine bearing overheating,” explains Leszek Bober.

The infrastructure we provided ensures power and space for both production environment and data backup. To launch StabilisOne cloud computing platform, we delivered in total 5 Huawei FusionServer RH2288 V3 servers, a high-performance 67TB Huawei OceanStore 2600 V3 storage system, and a complete LAN and WAN infrastructure solution."

StabilisOne also plans to create a tool for supply chain monitoring and business information exchange using Blockchain. “Currently, when we exchange business documents, including orders and the related settlements, we usually use EDI platforms that are both expensive and unavailable to most companies. Our technology will give you the same benefits, but at a much lower cost, as you will not need access to an authentication platform. All the solutions we use are open source,” says StabilisOne CTO.

IT support for launching a new business model

Work is currently underway to configure the cloud platform based on the components delivered: Huawei servers and storage. “We are being advised in this process by Infonet Projekt specialists,” says Leszek Bober. “The project is expected to result in the delivery of a hardware platform in Q4 2018 that will allow us to launch a new business model. Until now, no one has tried to provide the services related to ERP systems provision, production maintenance, and production processes and lines monitoring this way. We want to enable our clients to manage their business in an integrated way, thanks to the cloud based StabilisOne system,” he sums up.
